Hi Parents and Students! Fall lessons begin the week of August 19th. (Saturday lessons start on August 17th.) Here’s a few notable updates for the upcoming school year:
- Please email or text us by August 10 or earlier the best days and time for your lessons for the upcoming school year. Our fall lesson schedule should be in place by mid-August. We will notify you of your lesson day and time. Fall lessons start the week of August 19.
- Lisa is the secretary of the Davis District Utah Music Teachers Association this year. She is excited to get to know the wonderful teachers in the surrounding areas.
- Lisa’s studio is full this year. Hailee Applegate, an advanced student of Lisa's, is offering lessons to beginners at her home a block away from our studio. She has been doing pedagogy training with Lisa this summer. She enjoys working with children.
- Please use Venmo for payments in place of PayPal to help us reduce bank fees. (Houston-Hill-2 and Lisa-Hill-118.) Payments are due at the first of the month.
- Effective September 1st, fall tuition fees will stay the same at $27 per 30-minute piano lesson. The 45-minute piano lesson tuition fee will increase by $1 to $33 per lesson. Voice lesson tuition will remain the same. A registration fee of $25 per student will be included in your August invoice with the two August lessons. The registration fee covers the cost of printing, student binders, most supplemental music purchases and practice incentive treats.
- An averaged monthly tuition fee will be charged for the months of September through May. You will have the same monthly tuition fee regardless of the amount of lessons in the month (number of lessons x price per lesson divided by 9 months.) See the 2024-2025 Events Calendar for holidays and breaks.
- Please plan on purchasing a theory book for your elementary level piano students when needed. Lisa will send an Amazon link for theory books and other music books that are needed.
- 24-hour notice is required for lesson cancellations. In cases of illness or conflicts, a make-up lesson or credit may be offered at the teacher’s discretion. If we miss a lesson, a make-up lesson or credit will be provided.
- Fall recital dates are Saturday afternoon, December 7, and Monday evening, December 9. Spring recital will most likely be Saturday, May 17. Student recital times will be assigned later.
- A new performance opportunity for piano and vocal students is offered this year. In place of your lesson the week of Halloween, a 45-minute group class will be scheduled on Tues, Oct 29 or Weds, Oct 30. More info will be provided.
- Lisa’s membership in the National Federation of Music Clubs provides her students the option to play in the Spring Solo Festival at the Piano Gallery in Riverdale on February 27, 28 or March 1. Students receive a judge’s critique and an achievement ribbon. Playing in Festivals and Recitals are great practice motivators! I see great progress when students are preparing for these big events. Please make every effort to attend and support your student at the Recitals and Festival this year. Students work hard and deserve to be heard and congratulated for their efforts.
- No Silent Film Festival this year. It will be scheduled every other year.
- Please see our studio policies for more information about practice requirements, tuition pricing, media release, etc.
